Mitsubishi Corp Americas needed a refined biophilic design for their Pennsylvania Avenue office that would reflect their brand sophistication while creating a welcoming environment for executives, employees, and international guests. The challenge was designing a cohesive plant program across conference rooms, executive offices, and guest pathways that balanced visual impact with professional aesthetic.
Interior Plantscapes designed a comprehensive solution blending live tropical plants, custom preserved moss installations, and curated replica elements. The entrance features a 60-inch linear planter with Sansevieria Laurentii positioned beneath the Mitsubishi corporate logo. Custom curved moss garden planters line the guest walkway, creating a living art installation.
The small conference room features a 30 square foot custom preserved moss wall with coordinated framing, complemented by a Ficus Lyrata in a designer concrete planter. The kitchen features a wall-mounted plant system using 14 recyclable wall sconces arranged in a geometric pattern with three Pothos varieties, creating vertical green interest without consuming counter space.
The large conference room showcases a 44-inch linear planter with nine plants, a rotational triple orchid program in a custom bowl planter, and alcove ledge plantings featuring Dracaena, Dieffenbachia, and Aglaonema. A corner Ficus Lyrata includes moss garden underplanting. Hallway columns feature custom display boxes with preserved amaranthus, replica ferns, and eucalyptus. A 95-inch by 46-inch preserved moss wall creates a corridor focal point.
Premium designer planters including Hersch spheres, Seoul rectangular vessels, Vernon concrete containers, and Iris bowls complement the office’s aesthetic throughout.
