Blue Cross Blue Shield Association needed a comprehensive plant program for their 9th Street headquarters spanning the 8th and 9th floors. The challenge was creating cohesive biophilic presence across open office areas, built-in planters, breakout rooms, wellness areas, and elevator lobbies.
Interior Plantscapes designed and installed 320 plants coordinated across two floors. The 8th floor features 188 Sansevieria Laurentii specimens in built-in planters throughout open office areas. A complex under-staircase built-in planter showcases layered design with Rhapis and Kentia palms, Sansevieria varieties, Aspidistra Elatior, ZZ plants including Black Zamifolia, and Dracaena Janet Craig Compacta.
The 9th floor reception area features statement specimens including Ficus Lyrata Braid in a Sanibel ficonstone planter, Strelitzia White Bird, and Dracaena Reflexa in Wabi ficonstone vessels. The cafe built-in planter houses 36 Sansevieria Laurentii. Throughout both floors, coordinated desktop plantings feature Pothos varieties, Philodendron Monstera Deliciosa, and Aglaonema Spring Snow. Wellness rooms, reflection rooms, and family rooms received individual plant selections.
Rotational programs include a double orchid display in the tech lounge and a large succulent program in the 9th floor lounge. Elevator lobbies feature Philodendron Selloum on the 8th floor and Philodendron Monstera Deliciosa in curved ficonstone planters on the 9th floor.
